We had a death in the Sculpture world
Well I was sat last night, just deciding what to do next, should I start my next sculpture, should I glaze one of the fired pieces, or should I take the rest of the night and relax as my pain was quite bad.
Well I should have taken the latter! Instead I decided why not glaze one of the sculptures, it was after 10pm, I was tired, and in pain and I should have just packed up, wheeled away and relaxed on the sofa with Jools, but instead I chose to glaze. I put the tree frogs into the vice and started to glaze, but sadly because my strength isn't great I hadn't fastened the sculpture tight enough and as I was glazing it fell out, I tried to catch them, but was just far to slow, and missed, it hit the desk, bounced and hit the floor, smashing it into about 20 pieces.
I didn't know whether to cry, laugh, or just wheel away and pretend it hadn't happened.
Well I decided to try and use the experience for something good, a learning curve for one. But the 4 frogs had sort of survived, so I painted each of them in a colour glaze that I had, that came with the kiln, but had no labels on them, only a colour marking, so I thought why not paint the frogs, and see how the come out, then I'll know. So I've now got 4 frogs in 4 colours, and once I've glazed them, maybe i'l try and mount them somehow so they still look cute.
Sorry about the black mark on the chin, I didn't notice that at first, all gone now though. So when they're glazed I'll post up what they look like and what colours I painted them.
Have a great day everyone
Dee
