Commission Sculptures

Dee is more than happy to create a sculpture of your beautiful pet favourite animal or just a bespoke animals sculpture of your favourite garden visitor, whatever animal it is that you would like, creating animals is Dee's passion, so bringing to life something special to you will give her just as much joy as it will you when you look at it sat on your favourite shelf.

 

Steps to proceeding 

Make contact with Dee and she will try to accommodate what you want if its possible for her to create. After the initial contact she will sit with you on a call (live chat if you prefer) and discuss what it is your looking for in a sculpture, whether it be a bust of just the head, a full body sculpture, whether they are sitting, lay down, or standing, and then Dee will talk with you more the process of making your sculpture, like what's involved, discuss ideas, the size of the sculpture, the colours you'd like, and then Dee will have more of an idea of materials she will be using, along with time and costs.

If its a pet that your are requesting a sculpture of Dee will request a minimum of 4 photographs of the body front, back left and right side, plus close up photographs of the head and face to ensure she gets your beautiful pets features just right to show their personality. 

If you are far for Dee to take the photographs required, or you would rather take them yourself to save on time, Dee will be happy with either as long as they are in good natural lighting and in HD so that the quality is very good as she will need to be able to zoom in close on the photographs. Time is always of the essence in the initial preparation and taking photographs yourself then emailing them to Dee will certainly help with time.

 

Timescales

If you have no choice in one thing, its the clay, there is no rushing clay, its just the way Dee has found that Clay works.

Making a sculpture from the first call to the completed piece is quite a lengthy process, so please leave at least 3 weeks for a commission. If you’d like a bronze cast then it’s a much longer process going into 3 months maybe slightly longer.  Dee has yet to source a fine art casting foundry, but as soon as she has spoken with you regarding your piece, she will be making calls to find her local foundry.

 

Your subject, Dee's style

Dee's passion is animals, usually wild animals, however she is more than happy to sculpt a dog, cat, or your favourite bird from the garden.

Dee's style is quite detailed, her style has been called realistic yet whimsical . If you like something more simple in style, or modern/abstract, Dee can advise on suitable sculptors to try and help you find what it is that you want.

Wildlife Sculptures

 

When Dee isn't creating commission pieces or memorial pieces she will be creating animals of all different types, shapes, sizes and species. 

These pieces will be for sale to anyone who is interested in them and new pieces will be made available as soon as they've been through the kiln and are ready to sit on someone's side in their home.

 

Memorial

 

Dee loves to create pieces that have that extra special meaning to them for their owner. A dog that has since passed, a horse that was sadly lost, or a reptile that you miss dearly, Dee creates pieces that look just like your past friend. To make them extra special, if you have ashes of your old friend Dee is able to take a small amount of those ashes and incorporate them into the sculpture, either by placing them into a charm and putting the charm sealed inside the sculpture, or by adding their ashes to the clay mixture and bringing the sculpture to life.

 

Dee first had this idea when her daughter lost her beloved Shar Pei Toffee and just missed her all the time. She made a bust of Toffee with a hidden compartment where a little charm holding some of Toffee's ashes are kept safely sealed inside.

 

A Series Set

 

These sculptures will be done in sets rather than singles. They will then be sold as singles, in pairs, or triples etc, however the buyer would like to buy them, but they will all be named by the same series.

For instance Dee is creating a set called Woodland Friends, there will be 4 pieces in this series, and each will be named for that series i.e Woodland Friends - Mr Badger, Mr Fox etc.

These pieces like the Animal Sculptures will be for sale to anyone who might be interested in buying them. 

All series pieces will be listed on her For Sale page as will Animal Sculptures pieces, so please keep checking to see what available, you never know who you might find.

Ltd Edition Sculptures

 

Dee will post any sculptures which fit the ltd Edition description. If she makes a dozen of 1 sculpture, they will be ltd Edition pieces as no more will be made after that that number.

Also if Dee makes a special one off piece, that may be classed as Ltd edition.
