Happy Hatter - Series 3
Hi everyone!
I asked you all to think of a name, and you did it, you chose Happy Hatters.
This series is all about animals, but in a much more relaxed light than the more serious Series 1 - 200 Challenge.
In this new series, it will of course be of animals, but they will all be wearing hats! It was something I'd wanted to do in a while, and I have other idea's that I'd like to complete too.
I haven't finished with the 200 Challenge, but I felt when I hit the 40's out 0f 200 that I needed to change things up a little, and continue to make these, but in between other sculptures, so things didn't get stale.
I have to say, the 3 that I've sculpted so far, I absolutely love! They are so cute and so funny, and there's even a special one in there, called Johnny Badger. I actually dreamt about him, after making the frogs in hats, I think I put a couple of things together in my sleep and there he was. So I dreamt about Johnny Depp going to the wildlife centre to hold the baby badger called Freddie, but in my dream little Freddie grew up, lived in the forests and after meeting Johnny Depp he was just in awe of him, so he became known as Johnny Badger, and he loved nothing more than to wear hats like him.
The dream went on a little and when I made the sculpture of Johnny badger, he went to a gallery, where I was surprised with Johnny Depp coming to the gallery to see him and take him home!
Silly pipe dream I know, but it made my little sculpture become life, so I'm happy with that.
I can't wait to get these painted, they will look so colourful with their hats painted, and their fur or skin etc. Its a very new exciting chapter and I can't wait to see if anything comes from it.
I also have some great news. An amazing man has helped me acquire a new kiln, its secondhand of course, but its larger than my kiln and newer in age, all I need to get for this is a new controller as it doesn't have one, and it needs wiring into the house, because even though its still a Single phase like my kiln, this is 32W not 13W like my little CTL28. I can't wait for you to see her. As soon as she's home I'll get photographs and tell you all about her. What to name her, that is the question. My little one is called Red, because I'm painting her lid red and she gets red hot! I think I might call the new one Bob. Don't know why.
Anyway, of to glaze, take care.
Dee
