Today I have completed the sculpting of number 22 out of the 200 sculptures that I'm making to raise awareness to endangered and vulnerable animals.
I chose to make a Sumatran Elephant Baby, however when I had completed the sculpture it just didn't seem enough for such a huge majestic animal of such importance to this planet, so I made a second baby, I chose however to make them so they can stand apart or linked by their trunks to show their love for each other.
I can't wait to get my new sculpting room up and ready, I'm so excited! I've got all my furniture I've just got to get the room empty and away we go.
Here are my 2 new baby elephants, I just think they are so cute! I hope you like them too.
As for the sculpting room I'll keep you updated.
Here is a little data on the Sumatran Elephant and why I chose them in my endangered list of 200.
The Sumatran elephant is a subspecies of the Asian elephant and is native to the Indonesian island of Sumatra. In 2011, the IUCN upgraded the Sumatran elephant's status from endangered to critically endangered. It's estimated that fewer than 1,700 Sumatran elephants remain on the island. The Sumatran elephant's habitat has been destroyed by deforestation and conversion to agricultural areas. In the past 25 years, over two-thirds of Sumatra's natural lowland forest has been lost. Sadly the Sumatran elephants are also being lost to illegal poaching, being killed for their ivory. Poaching isn't the only problem that the elephants have with humans, and they often come into conflict when encroaching onto land that the people have taken for growing crops or building homes, this sadly often leads to elephants being killed or removed from the land. These elephants (like most) are critically endangered and need our help to save them. Imagine a world where your child grows up never seeing an elephant, never seeing such a big majestic, beautiful animal like this, I just couldn't ever imagine that, nor do I want to, so if you want to help these beautiful animals, please do visit my Instagram page, I tag all rescues and conservationist on all my posts.
